Is an Enhanced Drivers License the same as a Passport in my situation?

I live in Michigan, and My fianc�e and are going on our honeymoon in October. We are going on a 7 Day cruise that departs and returns to Miami. Other ports include Cayman Islands, Belize, Isla Roatan, and Cozumel. Do I need a passport, or will an Enhanced Drivers License work? Are there any disadvantages with the EDL?
